Teenager Driver's Education

1Do you provide one-on-one lessons?
Generally no since we send our cars out for two hours with two students paired up so they can get both their observation and driving in the same lesson.
2How do we sign up for the driving appointments?
After we see the permit and stamp it in the office the student can begin to sign up for driving hours in person or over the phone with parental consent.
3How long does my child have to make up a missed day of the classroom?
Any days missed will have to be made up within the next two sessions of classes. (approx. 2 months)
4How long does my student have to complete the driving portion of the course?
Six months from the start date of the classroom course.
5How long is each driving lesson?
Each lesson is two hours in length generally, one hour of driving and one hour of observation.
6I didn’t cancel or cancelled my appointment too late, will I be charged?
Yes.
7I have two students that I wish to enroll at the same time, can I get a discount?
If they are siblings and/or living in the same household we can give a discount depending on the current enrollment fees. Call for more information.
8I need a duplicate of my certificate, how do I get one?
In the event a duplicate is needed you will need to inform the office of the student’s name and when they took the classroom portion of the course. A duplicate fee of $5 does apply.
9Is full payment required up front?
No, we have a payment plan. All we need up front is $145 and the balance of $240 needs to be paid off by the last day of the classroom (about four weeks from the start date). How you pay off the balance is up to you. You can make payments throughout the course or wait until the end to pay it all off.
10My child missed a day of the classroom, how do they make it up?
Please call the office for dates and times for the class day the student missed, i.e. Day 5 and so forth.
11We taught our child with a parent-taught course for the written, will you teach them the driving part?
No. We can not take over teaching your course. If you want us to teach your child they will have to start over and their permit will have to be cancelled in order to take our course.
12What do I need to take with me to get my permit?
When you go down to the DPS to get your learner’s permit you will need to take the following items with you: Verification of Enrollment Form from your High School Certificate from Ayala & Assoc. Driving School Social Security Card Original Birth Certificate or an Official Copy of your Birth Certificate A Parent or Legal Guardian Money to pay for the licensing fees Picture I.D. (School I.D.) Texas Residency Requirements
13What happens if my child doesn’t make up their missed classroom days?
We will try to make it possible for your student to make up the class but if it can not be made up their permit will be cancelled as TEA requires.
14What is your cancellation policy for driving hours?
All driving appointments scheduled Tuesday through Friday must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Driving appointments scheduled Saturday, Sunday or Monday must be cancelled no later then 12PM on the Friday preceding the appointment. Failure to do so will result in a $30 no show fee. There will be no charge if a replacement is found.
15When does the actual driving (in the car) take place?
After the student gets their permit they can begin to schedule driving appointments before class, after class, Fridays and weekends (this includes Sundays in most cases).
16How long is your course?
About 4 weeks during the school semester and about 3 weeks during the summer time for classroom and the driving can run about a week or two over that depending.
17How old do you have to be to start this course?
15 years old at least (or 14 if near their 15th birthday)

Adult Drivers Education

1Can I use your car for my test at DPS?
We’re sorry but we can not loan our cars out for the test at DPS.
2Can I wait to pay for my lesson until I come on the day of my appointment?
No, all lessons must be paid for in advance. If you want you are more than welcome to pay for one lesson, come to that scheduled lesson and then pay for and schedule one more lesson for a later date.
3Do I take my test with your school?
No, all licensing exams must be given by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) as of September 1st, 2009.

6What is the amount of hours I have to purchase?
There is no maximum or minimum to the hours that have to be purchased. Each person is an individual that will learn in their own unique way. The amount of lessons needed typically with depend on how much practice the student gets in between lessons.

8Will you take me to DPS to take my test?
No, typically our office hours are not during the time which DPS is open for business and during the summer we are using our vehicles and the instructors are working all day.
9Will you pick me up at my house?
We’re sorry, but at this time we do not pick up nor drop off any of our students.

Defensive Driving

1Do I need to make an appointment?
No need to make an appointment, just make sure that it is at least a week and a half from your due date when you take the course. Here is our Defensive Driving/Ticket Dismissal Class Schedule: Defensive Driving classes are being offered each Saturday from 8:00AM - 2:00PM. For more information, please contact us at 210-690-6276.
2Do you give the certificates out right after the course?
No, at this location we send the information out of the office and the certificates will be mailed to our students. This can take up to a week and a half.
3I have a ticket but haven’t been to my court date yet, can I take the course?
First you need to obtain permission from the court session and pay a fee to the court system in order to take defensive driving. For any questions about fees please refer to your ticket or contact the court.
4I need a duplicate of my certificate, how do I get one?
For any duplicates you will need to contact our office and let us know your name and the date you took the course. A fee for a duplicate will apply.
5I need my certificate by Wednesday (the Wednesday after the course on Saturday), can you over night it?
No, sorry but at this time we do not overnight certificates at this location.
6I never got my certificate in the mail, what do I do?
Contact our office and let us know your name and the date you took the course.
7My court order says I have to have proof by the Friday after the course, will there be enough time?
Probably not since it can take up to a week and a half depending on the mail system.
8The information on my certificate it wrong, what do I do to fix it?
Contact our office and give us the information. A fee may apply for reissuing a certificate.
9What do I need to bring when I come to take the course?
Your court papers, driver’s license, $30 via cash or credit card and a black pen. (Please note: We do NOT accept checks for the Defensive Driving/Ticket Dismissal Course.)
